BOOKS BY MICHAEL L. OTT

Children's Book about Separation Anxiety for Kids ages 4-8

Books

Reviews

Children thrive when parents patiently explain complicated circumstances. That's exactly what Michael L. Ott does - he lovingly describes his offshore job and the reasons he must be away to his daughters through simple language and images. By allowing kids to visualize his workplace and understand the details, they can process separations meaningfully and trust in his return. This book is a gift for parents whose careers demand stretches away from home, helping maintain precious family bonds.

My kids always have so many questions about my offshore job, this will help paint a clearer image of the things we do! Can't wait to share with my 3 young ones at home, great job Mike!

Wow, what a heartfelt book. I was drawn in by the cover, but the story is even better. The sweet relationship between father and daughter is very precious, and the suggestions at the end of the book about what to do when a parent has to go away are must reads. These are practical and easy to do ideas to keep the parent and child connected even when they are separated. The detailed illustrations are incredibly life like and filled with emotion. I highly recommend this book for any child whose parents must travel for work. I hope this author writes more books, because I will follow his future stories as well. Dr. Kathleen M.

BIO

Ott Family photo.jpg

I'm Michael L. Ott, that proud guy in the middle of that picture there. I am a husband to a loving wife and father of three incredible young girls. I was born to working middle-class parents in the poorest state in the USA. For the past two decades I have been working various blue collar jobs, and I'm proud of where my life is today. Now that I'm in the stage of life where I have young children, I want to pass my culture along to them. I want them to grow up respecting electricians, plumbers, carpenters, truckers, tailors, cooks, hairdressers, nurses, first responders, and so many more. These skilled people are the ones who keep our lives running. They are underrepresented in children's books and I want to change that. I hope my books bring some joy to you and your loved ones.
